Policy, not a mood
Five things Epic's Echo will never do to your table.
Each of these is numbered and dated so you can quote it back. Where a refusal is enforced by a mechanism rather than by good intentions, the mechanism is named.
Refusal 1
It never invents once the dice are out.
No invented lore, no generated art, no backstories written for your characters. If it wasn't in the recording or in something you wrote, it doesn't reach the page.
Mechanism: extracted content is scored against the transcript before it is stored; content that can't be matched is dropped, not softened.
Refusal 2
It doesn't write your story
It writes down the story you played. It doesn't improve it, redirect it, or suggest where it should go next.
Mechanism: there is no generative story surface in the product — only recap, extraction and search over what you gave me.
Refusal 3
It deletes quotes it can't match
A quote it can't match to the recording is deleted before you see it, and it still appears in the count so you know it happened.
Mechanism: quote grounding runs on every session; unmatched speakers are nulled rather than guessed.
Refusal 4
It meters the intake, never the memory.
Metering applies to what comes in, never to what you've already built. Reading your wiki does not cost anything, ever — including after you stop paying.
Mechanism: usage is counted at intake; the archive and export stay reachable on the free tier.
Refusal 5
It publishes nothing
Nothing leaves your campaign because Epic's Echo decided it should. A private scene stays with you until you name, one by one, who may read it.
Mechanism: per-player visibility is stored per scene; the default is you alone.
