Your first campaign in four guided steps

Hello adventurers. v1.8 has two through-lines: making the first session at Epic's Echo easier to get to, and making the second through tenth sessions cleaner once you're there. New accounts now open into a guided four-step wizard. Story So Far reads like a chapter book. Story Sync stops eating your hand-edited recaps. And there's a homepage for what we believe — what we do with your transcripts, who owns the chronicle text. Pour the coffee.

Your first campaign in four guided steps

For two years, new accounts opened into a blank dashboard with an Upload button and a faint hope. Now they open into a four-step wizard: name your campaign, pick a system, line up your party, drop your first recording. The whole sequence takes under five minutes, and you finish with a campaign that has a real first session in it — not an empty shell waiting for the second visit that often never came.

A simpler way in for everyone

The sign-in page used to open with six choices and a small-print disclaimer. It now opens with one field: your email. Returning members get the password and Google buttons they remember. First-time visitors go to magic-link or Google sign-in, then pick a display name on their way in. Three fewer clicks, one fewer "wait, did I use Google or a password?" pause.

    Bulk hero work in Prep

The Prep tab finally treats hooks the way a DM actually edits them between sessions. Assign one hero to many hooks in a single motion. Soft-delete a stack of stale hooks the same way. The one-at-a-time grind that made Prep feel like data entry instead of storytelling is gone.

Story So Far reads like a chapter book

The campaign story view used to be a wall of bullets and best-guess session numbers. It now has a real counter (not a guess), chapter-like acts grounded in what actually happened at the table, drop-cap typography, and prose that flows instead of summarizing. It's the kind of doc you'd hand a new player to catch them up — and they'd actually read it.

Pick a module, recaps know the cast

Forty-nine popular adventure modules now ship with a curated cast list. Pick one at campaign setup and Epic's Echo already knows the key NPCs and locations. When session one's recap mentions Strahd, the wiki entry is already there waiting — name spelled right, tagged correctly, ready for your additions.

Memorable quotes stay put through Story Sync

Story Sync used to quietly vanish quotes when you renamed a character or edited a session. Not anymore. Previously saved quotes are corrected in place — names updated, speaker attribution fixed — but the line stays exactly where you put it. Your campaign's verbal moments are now safe to re-sync without crossed fingers.

A homepage for what we believe

There is a /trust page now. What we do with your transcripts. Who owns the chronicle text Epic's Echo generates from them. How we keep our work honest. It's the kind of page that should have existed on day one, and now it does. The link is in the footer in every language we ship.

    Three fixes worth calling out

Plan upgrades work again — for two weeks, paying members couldn't change tiers without hitting an error; the upgrade and downgrade flows are fully restored. Entity cards on /demo now open a preview instead of trying to send you to an account-only page (eleven users hit that wall in the two weeks before the fix). And creating an account now signs you straight in — no more "sign up, then sign in again" detour that was bouncing a quarter of new accounts inside thirty seconds.

Open your campaign, or start a fresh one — the wizard is right there. We'll see you at the table.

    Full changelog (technical)
    • BothA homepage for what we believe

There is a /trust page now. What we do with your transcripts, who owns the chronicle text, how we keep our work honest. The link is in the footer, in every language we ship.

    • GMBulk hero work in Prep

Assign a hero to many hooks at once. Soft-delete a stack of stale hooks in one motion. The Prep tab finally treats hooks the way a DM actually edits them between sessions.

    • GMConnections that read like sentences

Entity connections render as a calm sentence list — "Bramble is Rourke's mentor" — with controls that announce themselves on hover, keyboard-safe focus order, and an Undo for every change.

    • BothStory So Far reads like a chapter book

The campaign story view has a real session counter, chapter-like acts grounded in what actually happened at the table, drop-cap typography, and prose that flows instead of summarizing.

    • BothUpload knows what you are working on

Open Upload from a campaign card and the campaign is pre-selected. From the GM Prep checklist, the campaign comes along too. Inside a campaign, the header gets its own Upload button when you are eligible to add a session.

    • GMMobile campaign creation, unblocked

On phones, the campaign-create sheet now reaches the bottom of the screen. The system picker shows the five popular systems with a chevron for the rest. Audio uploaded into a notes-only campaign gets an honest amber prompt instead of vanishing.

    • BothA new way to read what we shipped

The landing page has a "From the workshop" strip pointing to the latest release post. There is a Blog link in the footer in every language. When a new post lands, you will see a one-time toast in the app the next time you open it.

    • BothDemo with a way back in

The Critical Role demo campaign has a "Sign up to clone this campaign" CTA — open it, sign up, and the demo's hooks and scenes are waiting in your own workspace. Russian and German players can finally find the demo from the landing nav.

    • BothYour first campaign in four guided steps

New accounts open to a guided wizard instead of a blank dashboard — campaign, branch, party, and first upload, all in under five minutes.

    • BothEmails that feel like part of the app

Every email from Epic's Echo — welcome, recap ready, credit top-up — now arrives in the same warm-gold palette and type used throughout the app.

    • GMPick a module, recaps know the cast

Forty-nine popular adventure modules now carry a curated cast list — choose one at campaign setup and Epic's Echo already knows the key NPCs and locations.

    • BothUpload progress in the session wizard

After dropping your session recording, a progress bar and live status fill the wait — no more staring at a frozen screen for up to a minute.

    • BothCrisper copy on the landing page and welcome emails

The hero pitch, welcome-email subject line, and first-session checklist all got cleaner words — shorter, plainer, without the overreach.

    • BothA sticky sign-up button and a new FAQ on the pricing page

Scroll past the pricing hero and a 'Start free — no credit card required' button follows you down the page. A new FAQ entry explains what to do if you don't have a recording yet.

    • BothPricing cards now show what you get each month

Each paid plan now lists exactly what lands in your account per month — session recaps, audio, DM notes, wiki queries, and more — before you pick a tier.

    • BothUpgrade without leaving your campaign

Members who want a higher tier are now taken to a dedicated page inside the app — their current plan shown next to the next step — instead of the public pricing page.

    • BothA simpler way in for everyone

The sign-in page now starts with your email. Returning members get the usual options; first-time visitors go straight to magic-link or Google sign-in, then pick a display name.

    • BothEntity names stay consistent across your recap

Confirm a name in the wiki and Epic's Echo rewrites it wherever it appears — recaps, outlines, and hooks — including Russian name variants.

    • GMMemorable quotes stay put through Story Sync

Quotes no longer vanish when you sync after renaming a character or editing the session. Previously saved quotes are corrected in place — not replaced.

    • GMRecurring entities confirm themselves

Characters and locations that appear in the source text and have been seen before now auto-confirm, so your wiki fills in without extra review clicks.

    • GMYour recap edits survive Story Sync

Epic's Echo now warns before overwriting a recap you hand-edited. Story Sync shows a confirmation prompt instead of silently discarding your changes.

    • GMMobile hook titles stay readable

On narrow phones, hook card titles and section headers no longer get pushed off-screen by long names.

    • BothTabs no longer hide themselves

Tab bars in dialogs and panels stopped clipping the last tab when content was long.

    • BothPlan upgrades work again

Changing your subscription tier was returning an error for every paying user since May 9 — the upgrade and downgrade flows are fully restored.

    • BothActivation email icons now show on dark backgrounds

The scroll, arrow, and sparkle icons in your activation and welcome emails were invisible against the dark header — they now render clearly in Gmail and Apple Mail.

    • BothEmail headings no longer float above the card

A quirk in Gmail and Apple Mail was hoisting the opening heading above the card in 11 different email templates — all fixed, every layout now renders in the right order.

    • BothDemo entity cards open a preview instead of a broken link

Clicking any entity card in the demo now opens a side preview instead of navigating to a page that requires an account — eleven users hit that wall in the past two weeks.

    • BothCreating an account signs you in on the spot

A quarter of new signups were bouncing within 30 seconds because the app sent them to the sign-in page right after they'd just created their account — that redirect is gone.

    • BothOnboarding no longer loops when a campaign was deleted

If your last-opened campaign was removed, the app now clears the stale reference quietly — three users were triggering over 85 silent background errors each before this landed.

    • BothWizard Continue button activates after one character

The first step of the new-campaign wizard used to require three characters in the name field before Continue enabled — the minimum is now a single character, matching what the dialog actually checks.

    • BothNew accounts skip the release-notes toast for one week

The in-app toast pointing to the latest release post is now muted for the first seven days on a new account — 23% of signups were clicking off to the blog instead of finishing their first session setup.

    • BothSpanish, French, and Portuguese URLs redirect to English

Browsing to an /es, /fr, or /pt URL no longer dead-ends — Epic's Echo now routes you to the English page while those language versions are being built.

    • BothDemo quest cards open a preview, not a sign-in wall

Tapping a quest on the quest board in demo mode — board or mobile — now opens a preview sheet, the same way entity cards do. The sign-in gate no longer fires on the first click.

    • BothConfirming your email now lands you in the app

No detour through the sign-in page after verification. The demo cleared up background errors too, and pricing tier buttons now point to sign-up instead of sign-in.

    • BothUpload page no longer loops on broken campaign links

A stale or invalid campaign link could trap the upload page in a silent error loop. The page now recovers automatically and clears the bad link.

    • GMStory Sync no longer reverts confirmed entities

Re-running Story Sync used to undo entities you'd already confirmed and could spawn duplicate wiki entries. Confirmed decisions now stick and the same character no longer appears twice.
